Callie Hoff

Hermantown alumnae Callie Hoff has been selected to compete for Team USA in the 2023 FISU Winter World University Games.

The 2023 FISU Winter Worlds University Games will be held January 11-21 in Lake Placid, N.Y. The women's tournament features eight teams competing in a round robin to advance four teams to the playoffs.

Staged every two years in a different city, the games are an international multi-sport event organized for university student-athletes by the International University Sports Federation. Teams from more than 50 nations will compete in 86 medal events.

University students currently enrolled in an approved academic institution and proceeding toward a degree, or who have completed/obtained their degree in the calendar year preceding the games are eligible.

Hoff, a 2022 University of Wisconsin River Falls graduate, is the Falcons' all-time leading scorer with 197 points in 120 games played. A two-time All-American and WIAC Player of the Year, she was Division III's leading scorer in 2021-22 en route to earning the Laura Hurd Player of the Year award.

“I am very honored and excited," Hoff said of making the USA roster. "No matter what level, it is an honor to represent your country and get to wear the red, white, and blue, so I am grateful I was chosen and will wear it proudly.”

Team USA is scheduled to open round-robin competition Jan. 11 against Japan at Maxcy Hall on the campus of SUNY Potsdam. Games can be watched online at www.fisu.tv.
