Hermantown Middle School is comprised of students in grades 5 - 8. The middle school experience is crafted to prepare students for the high school years.  In the fall of 2016, the middle school was relocated from the oldest building in the District to the former high school. The conjoined buildings share some staff members and other educational spaces.

Students in 5th - 8th grade work within a quarter system which allows them to experience core academic classes along with exposure to vocal and instrumental music, art, industrial technology, STEM, and Spanish. Each student is placed in an advisory group where social and emotional considerations are emphasized.
