Elnes, Wunner Track All-State

Hermantown sophomore Eva Elnes and senior Zach Wunner each earned all-state accolades for their performances during the Minnesota State High School League Class AA Boys and Girls Track and Field Championships June 4-6 at St. Michael-Albertville High School. Elnes placed eighth in the finals of the girls triple jump with a distance of 35'05.5", while Wunner placed seventh in the finals of the boys 110 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.15.

Junior Martin Sleen placed 10th in both the 100 meter dash (11.10) and 200 meter dash (22.71), and the boys 4x100 meter relay team of Sleen, Tanner Homstad, Grant Johnson and Corban Peterson notched the third-fastest time in Hermantown history to place 12th in the prelims.

Homstad also competed in the long jump, where he placed 13th with a mark of 20'11.25" and the triple jump, where he placed 19th with a mark of 41'11". Owen Simonson followed in 22nd place in the long jump with a distance of 20'5.5".

Neo Carlson earned a 15th-place finish in Discus with a throw of 125'8".

The girls 2x200 meter relay team of Elnes, Taraji Holets, Claire Niksich and Jailynn Sherill clocked a time of 1:49.67 to finish 16th in the prelims.
