WELCOME to Hermantown High School!

HHS is located on Hawk Circle Drive, just off of the northwest corner of Ugstad Road and Arrowhead Road.  The building was originally opened in 1988 with an addition built in 1999.  Our student population for grades 9-12 will be approximately 690 this year.  The school is still small enough for everyone to know each other, but it is large enough to offer a comprehensive list of course offerings.

The graduation requirements for Hermantown are well above the State diploma requirements.  Students graduating from Hermantown High School must earn twenty-four credits, with 4 credits each in English and Social Studies, 3 credits each in Math and Science, 1.5 credits in Physical Education, ½ credit in Health, 1 credit in Fine Arts, and a minimum of 7 elective credits. 

Academic departments include Art, Business, Industrial Technology, Math, English, Music, Social Studies, Science, Special Education, World Language, and Physical Education.  Students can earn over 50 college credits with our College-in-the-Schools courses which include Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Sociology, Psychology, World History, Anatomy, Physics, Chemistry, and English. 

There are numerous extracurricular opportunities in both activities and athletics.  Recent state champions in athletics include the boys hockey team in 2007 and the girls softball team in 2009.  During the 2010-2011 school year, the boys hockey team and girls softball team each played in the state championship game for the second consecutive year.  Other teams or individuals qualifying for state tournaments last year included both boys and girls golf, alpine skiing, nordic skiing, track, swimming, and speech.  

Hermantown also boasts strong fine arts programs including speech, drama, and music.  And, if you get the chance, be sure to walk the halls and admire the outstanding student art displayed in the hallways.  Hermantown students regularly earn awards and honors for their artwork. 

Hermantown High School is also recognized for its outstanding academic achievements.  Our graduation rate is consistently over 98%, and each year over 80% of our students go on to attend post-secondary education.
